Daniel, Susan and Ben are three graduates of the WPC Group traineeship program whose success story is an impressive one! After completing their engineering and business traineeships with Triomf, all three are now full-time employees at one of Queensland’s leading signalling, engineering and professional services provider to the Australian Railway Industry.
Triomf is a small business based in Brendale, established in January 2011. With a workforce of 17, WPC Group recruits make up 18% of their employees! A dynamic company, comprised of highly qualified Engineers with extensive experience in the railway signalling industry, especially in the design and build environment, Triomf was the best environment for these young adults to thrive and bloom professionally. They learned from key staff with an extensive knowledge base of the rail industry and relevant technologies in the region. After exceeding expectations in their traineeship, all three trainees are now valuable employees of the company.
Previous to partnering with WPC Group, Triomf recruited through various recruitment and advertising methods. This produced mixed results and it became evident that the business needed to recruit through a traineeship program, which provided the platform for new entrants to learn the business from the ground up. The traineeship model is a new pathway for Triomf, employees then progress onto a Diploma and university qualifications.
Meet our exceptional graduated trainees:
Daniel Ryan was the first WPC Group trainee hired at Triomf, he successfully completed his Certificate III in Engineering Technical in 2014. After being taken on to produce CAD under the direction of Triomf signalling engineers, Daniel has progressed to the role of signalling engineer, and has gained three regional signalling competency certificates. He is currently well underway studying for a Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
Susan Aitken started her traineeship in 2015, and achieved her Certificate III in Business Administration the following year. Susan started in general office administration but has now taken an increasingly important role in most business activities including ISO9001 quality management, assistant project management, office management and anything else Triomf entrusts her with.
Ben Phillips is the latest WPC Group trainee hired, studying his Certificate III in Technical Engineering. Ben completed his traineeship in January, and has been hired as a Junior Signalling Engineer. As Triomf’s latest recruit, following a similar path to Daniel, Ben is quickly gaining experience. He has excelled in the role of Junior Signalling Engineer and showing aptitude in production of signalling simulation data. Ben has also impressively gained two regional signalling competency Certification in his short time with Triomf.
Working and furthering their education in the Railway Engineering industry has been a great opportunity to develop and advance their careers for these three truly exceptional young adults. Daniel, Susan and Ben have all gone above and beyond, and we are proud to have been a part of building their dream careers.
Andy Rudge, Operations Manager at Triomf, says: “Partnering with the WPC Group has allowed Triomf to develop a trainee recruitment system utilising WPC Group’s expertise and experience at no direct cost to the company, and with minimum fuss. With the success we have had finding suitable young trainees through WPC Group to launch into a career in the signalling industry, we are now converts to their approach. From communicating the requirement to WPC Group, through the training process, to completion of training, we know we will get the right support. The many benefits include WPC Group sourcing suitable candidates, advising on training courses, monitoring trainees and handling all pay administration through the first year.”
WPC Group are looking forward to seeing Daniel, Ben and Susan flourish in their respective careers, as they have exceptionally bright futures ahead of them!
