WPC Group presented five outstanding Newcomb Secondary College students with excellence awards at the College’s 2018 Celebration Assembly on December 18.
The event was held at Geelong’s Playhouse Theatre, and celebrated the achievements of the College’s Year 7-12 students.
The WPC Group awards were presented by WPC Group Chairman Frederick J Maddern OBE. The awards recognised the ‘P-TECH Student of the Year’, along with the top student from each of Newcomb’s P-TECH streams – Business, IT, and Lab skills. There was also an award for the highest performing school-based apprentice.
Newcomb Secondary College is part of the Geelong P-TECH Partnership. P-TECH enables industry, education and community to collaborate to provide students with industry-supported pathways to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) related qualifications and local employment opportunities. Established in 2016, and managed by Skilling Australia Foundation for its first two years, Geelong was the first site to commence as part of the P-TECH Australia Pilot. The partnership is continuing to evolve with student numbers increasing, new streams being introduced and more partners signing up.
