HORTICULTURE APPRENTICESHIPS
Does working outdoors sound better than sitting at a desk? Do you have a green thumb or wish you did? A career in horticulture will let you grow your passion for being outdoors into a lifelong career. Whether it’s as part of a team or independently, horticulture is a varied profession that includes the maintenance and preservation of gardens and reserves, through to the care of trees, sporting fields, natural parks, and conservation of flora and fauna.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Arboriculture

    An Arboriculturist maintains and cares for trees and shrubs in a range of environments. They climb and work at heights to lop limbs, prune and shape branches, remove dead or decaying trees, fertilise trees and advise clients on tree health.

  • Certificate III in Parks and Gardens

    A Parks and Gardens Tradesperson maintains and restores the beauty of public and private parks and gardens. They plant and maintain lawns, shrubs and flower beds and keep up the appearance of landscaping.

  • Certificate III in Sports Turf Management

    A Greenkeeper plants and maintains the grass and turf that’s used for parks, gardens and sporting fields. They sow seeds and lay turf and then mow and trim the grass, water and roll turf and fertilise the ground. They might work on golf courses, bowling greens, general sports fields, parks or schools.

  • Certificate III in Landscape Construction

    A Landscape Gardener has extensive knowledge of plants and structures such as walls and ponds, as well as manual skills that they use to plan and create gardens for clients.

  • Certificate III in Agriculture – Irrigation | Two Year Traineeship

    An Irrigation Professional works mainly outdoors, maintaining irrigation equipment, such as sprinklers, water lines, pumps, suction devices, valves and other plumbing equipment.

  • Certificate III in Conservation & Land Management

    A Conservationist works outdoors, managing, protecting and restoring the natural environment across flora, fauna and waterways.
