Trainee Carina Ardizzone receives Phil Darby Memorial Encouragement Award

Business trainee Carina Ardizzone has received the Phil Darby Memorial Encouragement Award. Carina accepted her award at the NSW training Awards, held last night at the Sydney Town Hall.

After finishing school, Carina was living away from her family and struggling financially. She didn’t know what career she wanted and university seemed too expensive. Determined to invest in her personal and professional growth, Carina applied for a traineeship. This gave her a qualification, industry experience and a taste of her future career, but most importantly, it changed her life. Today, the nineteen-year-old is well on her way to completing a Certificate IV in Business with the Department of Industry. Carina has thrived on learning new information, problem solving and readily adapted to workplace challenges. “My traineeship has given me new-found hope and opened doors to endless possibilities.”

The Phil Darby award is presented in memory of Phil Darby, who was Director of Apprenticeships in NSW until his death in 1984, and is presented to encourage an outstanding trainee or apprentice.
