Greenfleet Carbon Offset Program

Global warming caused by human activities that emit carbon and other greenhouse gases to the atmosphere is a major concern to the community, to our employees and to our team of skilled people, apprentices and trainees.

As an organisation, we want to contribute to healthier and stronger communities that are better off as a result of our activities. For that reason we are aiming, over time, to become a carbon neutral organisation.

One of our first initiatives was to ensure our offices were well located near public transport. We then re-evaluated our fleet and downsized to smaller vehicles that produced less greenhouse gas emissions.

In order to offset the remaining emissions from our vehicles, we then joined the Greenfleet Program.

Greenfleet is a not-for-profit program that provides a simple way to reduce vehicle's impact on the environment by planting 17 native trees for every vehicle subscription.

These trees help to create a forest that, as they grow, will absorb the greenhouse gases each vehicle produces in one year (based on 4.3 tonnes of CO2 for the average car*).

Science shows that 17 mixed species trees will not only absorb a car's greenhouse emissions, but will also help to tackle salinity, improve water quality and provide essential habitat for native species.

Since 1997, Greenfleet has planted almost three million trees on behalf of Australian motorists and businesses. These trees will form permanent forests and will create an investment in rural Australia for future generations.
